Payet Not For Sale - Bilic

West Ham coach Slaven Bilic has stated he will not sell star player Dimitri Payet at any price.
Payet has been brilliant for West Ham, and has now been loved at the club.
The forward is now being courted by Galatasaray, but Bilic says he is going nowhere.
“From my point of view there is no money in the world that we would let him go for,” the Croatian told reporters.
“He gives everyone a lift. The things he’s doing on the pitch during games, he’s doing the same stuff in training.
“It’s great to have him in the squad and at the club. He’s a really good professional, he does not skip training and he’s motivated in training. It’s what makes him a great player.”
Bilic revealed that a potential move for striker Emmanuel Emenike has been complicated by the fact that West Ham must negotiate with both Al Ain, where Emenike is on loan, and his parent club Fenerbahce.
“We are waiting for that, because it is a complicated situation,” Bilic added. “He is a Fenerbahce player, but he is on loan to Al Ain.
“We made contact, basically they called me from Al Ain and we thought we could do [the deal] with them, but Fenerbahce have to be involved and now we are talking to them.”

Conmebol Endorses Infantino For FIFA Presidency

Conmebol has joined the major federations that backed Infantino, with Europe and Central America already backing him.

The 45-year-old Swiss has revealed an 11-point manifesto on his website, which pledged to increase the number of teams at World Cup finals to 40 and improve transparency throughout Fifa.
Europe’s Uefa were quick to unanimously back Infantino, with Central America’s Uncaf and now South America’s associations putting him in a position of strength.
A Conmebol statement read: “The Executive Committee of the South American Football Confederation has decided to support the candidacy and the work plan of Mr. Gianni Infantino for the Fifa presidency.”
Infantino will contest the election against Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Jerome Champagne, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale in Zurich on February 26.

Chelsea Speculation Expected - Hughes

Mark Hughes has stated the speculation linking him with a coaching job at Chelsea is expected, due to the form of Stoke City.
Stoke are ninth and just four points behind Manchester United, who sit fifth on the table. Stoke City were later eliminated by Liverpool on penalties in the league cup semis.
And Hughes has been added to the list of coaches that Chelsea will look at, should they miss Allegri, Guardiola or Simeone.
“There is always speculation like that,” Hughes said ahead of his side’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Crystal Palace.
“When you have a decent spell your name gets mentioned and this week it is me, but it is what it is. There is so much speculation going around and people being linked with different jobs in the country.”
Hughes says Stoke are keen to add to their squad before the close of the January transfer window but will not be rushed into panic buys if they miss out on their preferred targets.
“We would like to add if the right person is available and we can bring him to the club,” he added. “There is a danger sometimes that you start scrambling around trying to do business if your ‘A’ targets fall by the wayside.
“There will be no hurried decisions and no last-minute deals which we have not done work on before and considered.”
Hughes continued: “I thought we did really well [against Liverpool] and obviously everyone is disappointed not to go through.
“Tactically our work was spot on, we played better football and created better chances. Unfortunately we lost the first tie, won the second tie but lost on penalties.
“It was the first time we have won at Anfield in 50-odd years so that is something to take from the game.”

Juventus Wants To Keep Hold Of Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado

Emmanuel Emenike Transfer Still Alive - Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic West Ham boss hopes to compete a loan deal for Emmanuel Emenike in the next couple of days.
Bilic wants the retired Nigerian striker, who has scored seven goals in 11 games for UAE side Al Ain this season, to boost his attacking options for the Premier League run-in.
“We are still waiting for that, it’s a complicated situation,” said Bilic. “Al Ain called me and basically we thought we could do a straight swap with them, but now we are talking to Fenerbahce, and we will see what happens.
“So at one moment it didn’t look good, but in last couple of days the deal is looks pretty much alive.”

Saraki Replies Obasanjo’s Letter

Senate President Bukola Saraki has on Thursday, January 28, acknowledged and replied an extremely critical letter addressed to him and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, in which he (Obasanjo) accused the National Assembly of corruption, greed, impunity and lawlessness.
The president of the Senate, in the letter, averred that the 8th Senate was committed to good governance, transparency, accountability and due process.
The letter reads:
Yesterday, I acknowledged that I received a letter from former President Olusegun Obasanjo in which he called the attention of the National Assembly to some issues.
I will want to assure President Obasanjo that the leadership and membership of the 8th Senate are committed to good governance, transparency, accountability, due process and responsiveness to the economic reality of our nation. It is for this reason that the legislative chamber has introduced bold and progressive reforms in the management of the finances of the National Assembly.
This is of even greater importance during a tough fiscal period for our country. Like I said during my closing address at the plenary after our debate on the 2016 Budget, the Senate must lead by example in terms of our own funding, budgets and accountability – showing, beyond doubt, value for money. I have canvassed that we must lay bare the budget of the Senate, nay the National Assembly and its affiliated institutions.
I equally canvassed the need to strengthen the capacity of the legislative institution to carry our effective oversight of the executive arm so that we can ensure the budget leads to the realization of the policy objectives of the Buhari Administration. Again, let me reiterate my position in the speech I made this morning on the need for us to work towards blocking all areas of revenue leakages while also strengthening the anti-corruption agencies so that the little resources that are now available will serve the interest of the overwhelming majority.
As a former president and a father of the nation that we all hold in high esteem, I intend to reply the letter and outline the actions the Senate is taking to address his concerns.
In conclusion, I appreciate President Obasanjo for his consistent role in always reminding those of us in government about our responsibilities to the general public and offering timely advice where necessary.
Signed
Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki

2016 Budget: Saraki Warns Senators Against Financial Inducement

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has cautioned senators against financial inducement in the course of budget defence by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government, as the National Assembly on Wednesday, January 27, fixed February 25 for the passage of the 2016 Appropriation Bill.
The bill, which scaled second reading in the Senate, was committed to the Committee on Appropriation to coordinate budget defence by MDAs.
The senate president said: “This to me and to all of us is the most important area of this budget in the sense that it will be a great foundation not only for today but for the future if this can be achieved.
“Also, with the pegging of Capital Expenditure at 30 per cent, a number of comments were made about the level of borrowing but I think what matters is what the money is used for.
“As of the percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), we are still within the limits and parameters but what is important is to ensure that the money is judiciously used for what it is meant for.”
“It is important that the issue of blocking leakages is key and from the experience of the past we must learn from the past to work towards the future.
“The committees should scrutinise these estimates and ensure that they are estimates that we can all put our names to.
“The Zero budgeting of which the budget is premised on means some of the projects would be critically assessed to ensure that the projects were justified.”

Speaking after the conclusion of the debate on the bill, Senator Saraki vowed to deal with any lawmaker found to be involved in any form bribery in the course of budget defence, which would commence on Jan. 28, as ‘‘the current assembly would not tolerate conducts capable of undermining the integrity of the Chamber’’.
While briefing pressmen, the Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje, said that the Senate would adjourn to allow for the budget defence to take off.
He said that the report would be laid before the Senate on February 24 while the Senate would consider and approve the budget on Thursday, February 25.

Jonathan Breaks Silence On The Ongoing $2.1billion Arms Deal Scandal

Former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has finally made some comments with respect to the ongoing $2.1 billion arms deal scandal, which is currently a threat to the peace and economic stability of the nation, and has gotten prominent Nigerians captured in the net of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
An ebullient looking Dr. Jonathan, on Wednesday, January 27, in Switzerland, defended his administration and stated why he would not comment on the current arms probe scandal allegedly involving his National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, and some top politicians in the country.
Addressing a press conference in Geneva on Security, and Development in Africa, Dr. Jonthan maintained that he would not like to comment on the arms probe matter now because his comment could affect witnesses and the judicial proceeding that had been initiated by the current administration.

He said: “I would not like to comment now because the matter is in court. I cannot comment. Definitely, I will speak. My Comment now may affect witnesses and the judicial process.
“When I was President, I tried to build institutions like the Judiciary and separation of power and the electoral bodies. I should not be the one undermining the process.”
Dr. Jonathan also attended to a host of issues such as the abduction of the Chibok Girls, Boko Haram, the economy and corruption.

Faleke: I Was Not Invited To Bello’s Inauguration As Kogi Gov

The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Kogi state election, Mr. James Faleke has on Wednesday, January 27, revealed that he was not invited to the swearing-in of Mr Yahaya Bello as governor.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Mr. Faleke, who was the running mate to Abubakar Audu, the late APC Kogi governorship candidate, averred that he would not accept the position of deputy governor of the state, describing what happened in the Kogi state chapter of the APC as a coup d’etat.
He added that contrary to reports that the party was making efforts to reconcile aggrieved parties in the election, nobody had reached out to him.
Faleke said: “I am speaking before Nigerians and I am making it very clear that nobody reached out to me. Nobody from our party’s national secretariat or the state secretariat of our party ever reached out to me on this issue.
“The only time they every reached out to me was on November 30… when the chairman of our party announced the decision of the National Working Committee to all of us to say the NWC had adopted Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the governorship candidate for the December 5 suplementary election.
“Thereafter, there was no consultation until today. I want to make it clear that the party chairman, Chief John Oyegun, that we saw as a father has decided to champion a cause that is anti-people. That is why we were not invited (for the inauguration).”
“For me I see what has happened in the party as a civilian coup d’état. It is a civilian coup d’état because if such a situation happens in the military, those behind it will face the firing squad,” he said, adding that the best way forward was to head to the court.
“It was Alhaji Yahaya Bello that worked against the party. He took the party to court before the election, took our late leader, Audu to court before the election and he lost his polling unit to PDP, lost his ward to PDP and lost his local government area to PDP.
“And I made it clear that day (during the meeting) that if 50 per cent of us seated in that hall had lost our polling units, lost our wards and our local governments, there would have been nothing for us to celebrate.”

NFL Player, Anthony Smith Sentenced To Life After Murdering Four People

Starting with a disturbing childhood of violence, drug use at the age of nine and child abuse, Football was the only thing former Oakland Raiders player, Anthony Smith really loved. Smith has been described as ”absorbing and self-absorbed”.
After retiring in 1998, Anthony Smith, a former Oakland Raiders player, was first arrested for the murder of four people in 2011.
Smith was convicted in court last year for the kidnapping and murder of Ricky and Kevin Nettles. He also was convicted on charges for the 2001 murder of Dennis Henderson.
The former NFL player is said to have posed as a police officer to kidnap brothers Ricky and Kevin Nettles from their Los Angeles car wash business on Nov. 10, 1999, before killing them.

The Nettles brothers were found with their heads covered in duct tape.  Then on June 24, 2001, Smith kidnapped Dennis Henderson, before beating and stabbing him to death in the back of a rental car.
Former Oakland Raiders defensive end Anthony Smith was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Friday (Jan. 22) for three murders dating back to 1999.
A Los Angeles County jury convicted the 48-year-old of three counts of murder. With special circumstances of torture, kidnapping and multiple murders back in November. This past week, he was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.

He was also accused of the murder of friend Maurilio Ponce, whom he lured to an Antelope Valley desert highway in 2008, where he was beaten and shot after a business deal went bad. A jury was unable to reach a verdict on the fourth charge.
The murders remained unsolved, up until 2011, when Smith was arrested without bail.
Smith was the No. 11 overall pick of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Raiders. During his NFL career, he recorded 57.5 sacks and 190 tackles, before retiring in 1998. He played with the Raiders until ’97, where he then abandoned his contract, and just never signed with another team.
There is no word on if Smith’s sentence starts immediately.

From a prosecutor’s point of view, Anthony Smith is a dangerous, lucky person. Mesmerizing, seemingly untouchable. Absorbing and self-absorbed. He can do wrecking ball; he can do teddy bear.
He’s a man with a temper who believes in his own victimhood. And he’s smart…enough. Any slipups, and there have been some whoppers, are countered by mind-numbing obfuscation during police interviews and charismatic appearances on the witness stand. (“He’s a pretty good witness,” one judge remarked.
“The D.A. didn’t shake him. He is able to handle pressure, possibly from playing sports.”) To friends and family, he’s sociable and generous, a family man with a dazzling smile and a loving heart.
A man whose talent bought him a dream life—multimillion-dollar NFL contract, mansion on a hill, marriage to Denise Matthews, a.k.a. Vanity, the former lead singer of Prince’s eponymous all-girl group—that somehow bled into the nightmare he now faces: a looming trial for the brutal murders of four men.
The popularity in Will Smith’s real-life movie Concussion draws attention to the odds stacked against black young men eager to get into the NFL amid futuristic health issues.

Blackface: Wizkid Stole Ojuelegba From Me

Blackface of the now defunct boy group, Plantashun Boiz, has lashed out at Wizkid in a recent interview for stealing his song ideas, especially Ojuelegba.
The singer (Blackface) recently released a song, Killa, where he took subliminal shots at Wizkid saying, “they tried to copy my melody” and now while talking to Saturday Beats, made it clear he has a problem with Wizkid.
He said,

“If you check properly, you would realise that Wizkid’s hit, Ojuelegba, sounds exactly the same as the track 13 on my dancehall album released as far back as 2010. You need to listen to that album to know what I am talking about. The song is so similar that I think it shouldn’t be that way.
“Well, in Killa, I sang that “they tried to copy my melody,” and the bloggers got a hint of the gist and put their reports out. What I said is the truth and I am going to get to the root of this matter because I deserve justice.
“The Ojuelegba song has made so much revenue for Wizkid. I am not bothered about that but I want the industry to be in a position whereby people will understand that some of the artistes and the songs they are cheering is someone else’s efforts, especially fellow artistes that they are doing everything to bring down. All they are doing is to bring down Blackface and to say that he is not relevant in the industry. Some people are bent on killing my legacy. I believe there is definitely a gang-up against me in the industry and this has been going on for a long time,” he said.
The veteran further threatened to take legal actions against Wizkid and others like him, if they continue to rip off his work without permission.
