President John Pombe Magufuli Of Tanzanian has placed a ban on the wearing
of mini skirts, in the country, saying he believes the garments, along
with short dresses, encourage the spread of HIV/Aids, Kenya’s Standard
media, reports.
Tanzanian women have since been given three weeks to rid their wardrobes of the “offending” garments.
The President’s decision is coming just a few months after the country banned “twerking”.
It
was reported that the provocative dance was banned following an
announcement by Cultural Development Director Herman Mwansoko.
According to Mwansoko, twerking supposedly threatened original dances and impacted negatively on the new generation.
It
was also learnt that Magufuli banned issuance of Christmas cards by
government officials, saying those who wished to send them out must use
their personal resources.
