Laurent Blanc has stated that the attention surrounding Ibrahimovic’s return to Malmo shifted the club’s focus.
PSG secured an astonishing 5-0 victory over Malmo, of which Ibrahimovic scored the third goal of the night.
And Blanc has stated that they’re not dampened by Real Madrid’s success over Shakhtar.
“The thing that we could master this evening was our own game,” the former France international told reporters.
“The context was a little separated. With the return of Zlatan in Malmo, we had almost forgotten that the main thing was to qualify for the quarter-finals.
“Focus has driven us tonight, and in 15 minutes we made it difficult [for Malmo]. It took determination to win this game well. We can talk about a good evening, yes.”
However, Blanc acknowledged that in spite of his good record in Europe and continued domestic success, he remains under unrelenting pressure, citing the negative reaction to PSG’s one and only defeat this season, at the Santiago Bernabeu, as a case in point.
“It’s been very good [PSG’s season so far] but you know, it’s constant questioning,” the World Cup winner add.
“In Paris, as soon as you draw it is a disaster, and if you lose it becomes a tsunami.
“But that one [defeat, against Real] hurts because there was an opportunity to finish first.”
