The former Chelsea and Arsenal left-back has failed to make an impact during his time at the Stadio Olimpico, making just 11 Serie A appearances over two years in Rome.
The 35-year-old has been frozen out of the Giallorossi squad since the summer when it was made clear he was not part of coach Rudi Garcia’s plans.
Cole is reportedly keen on the switch Stateside, where reunion with former England team-mate Steven Gerrard could materialise.
