Louis Van Gaal has to be the most
tagged name in sports journalism right now as various media outlets have
come together to give traction to the speculation that the Dutchman
might be fired by Manchester united this week. Following a disastrous
run that culminated in a 2-1 loss to Norwich on Saturday, the pressure
on Van Gaal seemed to be enormous and the situation wasn’t eased as
Mourinho was fired by Chelsea. As soon as Mourinho became available on
the market, news started to break that Manchester United were set to
fire Van Gaal and hire his former assistant, Jose Mourinho. The
Manchester United manager stepped into the press conference obviously
irate by the events of the past few days and immediately demanded an
apology from the press for the rumors regarding his job this week. No
apology was sent his was and the former Ajax trainer lost his cool and
stormed out of the press briefing.
This bust up with the media would definitely have its ramifications and should Manchester United fail to do better than their recent performances against Stoke, Van Gaal would be the butt of a lot of jokes in the media and we would not be left out.
