INEC Sets To Announce Winner Of Bayelsa Gov Election With Heavy Military Presence In Yenagoa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has continued the official announcement of the Bayelsa state governorship election results which it started in the evening of Sunday, December 6, 2015.
Vanguard reports that there has been massive security build up around the Yenagoa local government area secretariat, venue of the collation of results of the Bayelsa State governorship election.

It was gathered that armed soldiers backed by armoured personnel carriers were deployed in the area to complement the police and other sister agencies on ground.
Bear in mind, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate had so far garnered a total of 81, 929 votes, while his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress got a total of 56, 514 votes.
Results were still being awaited from Nembe, Southern Ijaw, and Ogbia local government areas.
Meanwhile, anxiety has griped the people of Bayelsa over the expected results from Nembe and Southern Ijaw local government areas.
It is also expected that the result from Southern Ijaw might determine the winner of the gubernatorial race as there are slim margin between the PDP and APC candidates.
