Real Madrid Expelled From Copa Del Rey

Real Madrid have suffered the ignominy of being expelled from Spanish football’s cup competition, the Copa Del Rey for fielding a suspended player.
Denis Cheryshev who featured for Real Madrid against Cadiz on Wednesday in a Copa clash and opened the scoring should not have been on the pitch for Benitez’s side. The Russian was supposed to serve a one match suspension. Cheryshev who spent last season on loan at Villareal picked up three yellow cards during the competition and was therefore suspended for a match. There was clearly mis-information somewhere as the player was fielded by Benitez and got on the score sheet inside three minutes. When Benitez realized, the player was substituted but it was too little too late. Cadiz launched an official complaint on Thursday morning and the Spanish football federation announced earlier today that Real Madrid have been expelled from the Copa Del Rey tournament and Cadiz would be advancing to the round of 16.
Real Madrid can have only themselves to blame and now have to give their all in the La Liga and UEFA champions league competitions in order to avoid another trophy-less season.
